Viruses (including COVID-19) are enveloped in a lipidic layer – i.e., a coating of fat – around them that acts as a shield. The use of soap in the washing of your hands helps break down this shield and to make the virus inactive.
Hence, it is imperative that wash your hands regularly with soap and water. Lather up abundantly your hands by rubbing them together with soap and scrub them vigorously for 20 seconds or more, wash them and dry them with a clean towel or a paper one. Don’t forget to scrub your thumbs, the backs of your hands, between your fingers, your wrists and under your nails!
Don’t just twiddle your thumbs – wash your hands thoroughly and help us put a stop to COVID-19!
